God’s Covenant of Love

But the mercy of The LORD is from everlasting to everlasting upon them that fear Him, and His righteousness unto children’s children.

Psalm 103:17

Have you ever taken a moment to stop and reflect on the greatness of our God? Psalm 48:1 says “Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised…” We serve a God of great love and great faith. He designed us to live by love and when we do, we become surrounded by everything that love provides. God’s motive in everything He does for us is purely and simply love. We never have to worry about Him choosing His own self interests over ours because He has already proven at Calvary that He was willing to sacrifice Himself on our behalf. When Jesus poured out His very own blood, He was showing us that every promise He has made us and every word He has spoken was prompted by His great love.

The covenant love of God is so strong and far reaching that its power not only covers you, but it extends to your children and to your grandchildren. Of course, each one of them will one day have their own personal experience and make Jesus the LORD of their life entering into that covenant for themselves. But until then, God will look after them for your sake. He will protect them and bless them, just because they are yours. I not only know that because the Bible says so but I have seen God’s covenant of love working in my own family. Psalm 91:10-11 reads, “There shall be no evil befall you, neither shall any plague come near your tent; for He shall give His angels charge over you to guard you in all your ways.

Several years ago, my son was driving home on the Austin, Texas freeway when a large metal object rolled off a vehicle in front of him. Unable to switch lanes without endangering others, he had no choice but keep moving forward. The large metal object lifted his vehicle and lodged itself underneath his sport car immediately severing the access to the car’s control systems. Still moving forward, the vehicle began to spin widely out of control. All my son could see or hear was crushing metal as he sat helplessly unable to control his fate. The vehicle finally came to a stop when it slammed into a large concrete barrier a long way from the initial starting point. When it was all over the car was completely destroyed. Like a tin can, it was crushed in at every angle. Even though paramedics had to cut him out of the vehicle, the first miracle was that my son was alive and suffered no life threatening injuries. The second miracle was that no one else was hurt in that crazy event. God is so faithful. He keeps His promises to those who love Him.

This is just one of the many lifesaving miracles that God has performed for me on behalf of my family. He will do the same for you because God is not a respecter of persons. My son is alive and well because we serve a good God. When a father or mother stands on God’s covenant promises by faith it opens doors to miracles. So never underestimate the power of praying God’s promises out loud because faith in God is a very powerful thing. May the LORD bless you and keep you safe all the days of your life. God bless.
